Job description
Onshore Lead Rotating Equipment Engineer (LNG)

The Lead Rotating Equipment Engineer will serve as the technical authority and team lead for all rotating machinery across onshore assets. The position oversees the full lifecycle of rotating equipment, including installation, commissioning, upgrades, maintenance, troubleshooting, and major overhauls.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the rotating equipment team, ensuring delivery of high-quality technical support aligned with operational priorities.
  • Act as the Mechanical Responsible Person (RP) for rotating equipment safety-critical elements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Oversee maintenance strategies and performance optimisation initiatives for rotating machinery, including compressors, pumps, and gas turbines.
  • Provide expert guidance on condition monitoring, reliability improvement, and root cause investigations.
  • Manage and coordinate all rotating equipment projects—installation, commissioning, modifications, and major repairs—ensuring they are completed on schedule, within budget, and to specification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in engineering, operations, and procurement to support equipment selection, design, and long-term maintainability.
  • Direct contractor and vendor relationships for rotating equipment services, spare parts, and repairs to achieve timely and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Develop and implement maintenance and inspection strategies that enhance mean time between failures (MTBF) and reduce downtime.
  • Identify and drive initiatives that deliver cost efficiencies and operational improvements, contributing to reductions in OPEX and CAPEX.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent discipline).
  • 15+ years’ experience within the oil & gas or LNG sector, with a strong background in rotating equipment.
  • Hands-on expertise in the design, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of rotating machinery packages (compressors, pumps, gas turbines, etc.).
  • Previous experience leading technical teams and providing operational support.
  • Strong working knowledge of international codes, standards, and industry best practices related to rotating equipment.
