Job description

Monroe Consulting Group is looking for a highly motivated Country Head of Legal, Compliance & Corporate Secretary to support their company's fast-growing Insurance business in Indonesia.

Key Responsibilities:
Legal & Regulatory Leadership & Advisory
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the leadership team and boards of directors and commissioners on all legal matters, and generally oversee all legal matters relating to the Indonesia business, providing timely and pragmatic advice across multiple areas including regulatory, corporate, commercial, data privacy, employment, insurance, distribution and product development.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements including partnerships, vendors, distribution arrangements and product/ policy documentation.
  • Manage disputes, regulatory inquiries and law enforcement requests, including strategy oversight of external counsel if needed and cost control.
  • Assess new business initiatives for regulatory implications and operational impact.
  • Monitor and advise on legal/ regulatory changes, governance expectations and legal risks.
Compliance Leadership & Execution
  • Own Indonesia's compliance program in line with local laws/ regulations and Group standards.
  • Ensure full compliance with local law/ regulatory requirements relating to, amongst others, financial services/ insurance, AML/ CFT, sanctions, consumer protection, conduct risk, data privacy and governance.
  • Conduct risk assessments, compliance reviews and control testing, driving remediation and continuous improvement.
Regulatory Engagement
  • Act as the key point of contact for regulators, law enforcement and industry associations.
  • Prepare regulatory submissions, filings, notifications and responses to supervisory queries.
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements and ensure timely, accurate documentation.
  • Proactively shape regulatory strategy through constructive engagement with regulators and industry participation as needed.
Corporate Secretarial and Governance
  • Serve as corporate secretary for our client entities in Indonesia, supporting board governance, entity management, statutory filings and corporate secretarial activities.
Risk Management & Control Environment
  • Partner with the Risk and Internal Audit teams to ensure a robust risk management and control framework.
  • Support enterprise risk assessments and control testing, and drive timely remediation of audit findings.
  • Embed legal and compliance risk considerations into business planning and decision-making.
Requirements
Essential:
  • Qualified lawyer with at least 10 years of post-qualification experience in insurance industry.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance laws/ regulations of Indonesia.
  • Proven track record in dealing with regulators or supervisory authorities.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, dynamic environment.
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, challenge and collaborate across cross-functional, cross-jurisdictional teams.
