As an Indonesian metal and mineral mining holding company headquartered in Jakarta, Merdeka explores, extracts, and produces gold, silver, copper, and other minerals through subsidiaries across three islands in Indonesia. Merdeka was established in 2012 and became a public company in 2015 with the stock code MDKA. It is owned by shareholders including PT Saratoga Investama Sedaya Tbk, PT Provident Capital Indonesia (through PT Mitra Daya Mustika and PT Suwarna Arta Mandiri), and Garibaldi Thohir.

Summary

This role involves evaluating and executing new commercial contracts, supporting the assessment of acquisitions, divestments, and significant organic growth opportunities, and providing commercial rationale for major capital investment decisions. The role requires regular communication with partners and customers regarding sales and the preparation of well-reasoned presentations to support executive decision-making.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in finance or engineering with at least seven years of relevant experience, demonstrating robust financial modeling and analysis skills. A strong understanding of financial modeling, financial analysis, and nickel products is highly advantageous. Fluency in both Mandarin and English is essential, along with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment while upholding the highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain understanding of nickel market dynamics across different products, including profitability and new technology.
  • Evaluate and execute new commercial contracts, including long-term sales arrangements.
  • Support the evaluation of acquisitions, divestments, and major organic growth opportunities.
  • Support the evaluation of commercial rationale for major capital investment decisions.
  • Support the evaluation of strategic initiatives, including corporate activity.
  • Communicate regularly with partners and customers regarding sales.
  • Conduct financial analysis for acquisitions, new joint venture opportunities, and major capital investment decisions, including gathering assumptions from project teams and JV partners and building financial models.
  • Support acquisition processes, including coordinating due diligence and working with external deal teams.
  • Prepare well-thought-out presentations to assist in decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's (or above) degree in accounting, finance, engineering, or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in sales, finance, engineering, mining, or processing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with high levels of motivation, initiative, and energy.
  • Good understanding of financial modeling and financial analysis.
  • Understanding of nickel products would be advantageous (MHP, nickel matte, NPI).
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work with tight deadlines in dynamic environments and adapt to new challenges.
  • High-level critical thinking, analysis, and reasoning.
  • Hands-on, capable of working under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Highest personal standards of behavior, acting with ethics, integrity, and respect at all times.
