A health service organization in Australia is seeking a Child Health Assistant to support the delivery of Child Health and Development Checks for children aged 0-5. The role focuses on assisting Child Health Nurses by providing delegated care, conducting assessments, and engaging with families. Strong emphasis is placed on trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, aiming to improve health access and outcomes for children, especially in Aboriginal and rural communities. Multiple positions are available with part-time and full-time options.

Hours: Part-time and Full-time (0.4 – 1 FTE), multiple positions available.
Contract: Ongoing.
Location: Kaurna Country, Sonder Edinburgh North or Narungga Country, Sonder Kadina. There will be a requirement of frequent travel within your allocated service region and occasional day‑travel to other parts of our service region.

The Child Health Assistant will work within a multidisciplinary Primary Health team to support the delivery of Child Health and Development Checks (CHDCs) for children from birth to 5 years. This position will assist the Child Health Nurses by providing delegated care, helping with assessments, documentation, and family engagement. A strong focus will be placed on trauma‑informed and culturally safe practice, supporting early identification of health and developmental concerns. The position will play an important role in improving access and outcomes for children and families, particularly within Aboriginal, CALD, and regional communities, through respectful, family‑centred support and collaboration.
