Job summary
A leading marine engineering company based in Wallsend is seeking a technically proficient technician to provide support for various projects. You will ensure equipment is manufactured correctly, diagnose faults, and conduct quality assurance checks. The ideal candidate will have a relevant HNC qualification and experience in control and instrumentation. This full-time role may require travel worldwide and offers a dynamic work environment.
Qualifications
- Time served technician with relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Control & Instrumentation.
- Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
- Experience in PLC programming.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to projects.
- Ensure equipment is manufactured correctly.
- Diagnose and fix faults.
- Conduct functional testing of equipment.
- Complete test paperwork.
- Demonstrate systems to customers.
- Answer technical queries.
- Ensure QA checks are completed.
- Work on-site when required.
- Travel worldwide for work.
Skills
Education
Location: Soil Machine Dynamics, Davy Bank, Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, NE28 6UZ
You will be providing technical support to projects throughout SMD and liaising between Customers, Engineering and Project Managers to provide clients with quality product, commissioned to the requirements of the project and specification.
- Ensuring vehicles and associated equipment have been correctly manufactured
- Diagnosing and fixing faults
- Functional testing of equipment
- Ensuring test paperwork is correctly completed
- Demonstrating systems to customers
- Answering technical queries
- Continuous improvement
- QA checks
- Work off site when required.
- Work as part of the Production team as required.
- Travel worldwide where required to work both on land and offshore
- Relevant HNC qualification
- Time served technician with fault finding experience
- Control & Instrumentation experience
- Basic mechanical & hydraulic knowledge
- Basic PLC knowledge & experience
- Offshore Survival certificates (desirable)
