Job Description:
Roles: Resident Engineer in Mechanical, Electrical Disciplines.
Location: Port of Nigg, Scotland
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
As a Resident Engineer, you will oversee the construction and maintenance of civil, mechanical, or electrical infrastructure and structural elements of a Subsea Cable Factory Project in the Port of Nigg.
You will act as the primary point of contact between contractors, project stakeholders, and engineering teams, ensuring construction activities comply with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Construction Oversight: Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and quality control checks, addressing deviations or deficiencies.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and communicate project status to stakeholders and management.
- Technical Support: Provide expertise to construction teams, resolve engineering issues, and interpret design specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Liaise with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, and community representatives, addressing concerns professionally.
- Change Management: Manage scope, schedule, and budget changes, evaluating impacts and facilitating decisions.
- Team Communication: Maintain constant detailed communication with the design team.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering; a Master’s Degree is advantageous.
- Recognition from accredited programs is preferred.
Professional Licensing and Certifications:
- PE license or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred.
- Safety Certifications such as OSHA or NEBOSH.
Experience:
- 5-10+ years in the relevant discipline, with strong site supervision and project management background.
- Field experience with large-scale infrastructure, manufacturing, or electrical projects.
- Proven skills in quality assurance, inspection, and compliance with codes.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of site management software and relevant codes (Eurocode, ASME, IEC).
- Structural analysis, HVAC, plumbing, or power systems expertise depending on discipline.
- Leadership, communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
