Principal Project Structural Engineer
Location : Bristol
Our client is seeking an experienced Principal Project Structural Engineer to join their expanding Bristol office. Due to sustained growth and a strong pipeline of work, this is an excellent opportunity for a technically proficient and motivated engineer to play a leading role within one of the UK’s most respected independent engineering consultancies.
You will be involved in a wide range of commercial, residential, and retail projects, taking ownership of technical delivery while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the continued success of our design team.
Act as technical lead on a variety of structural engineering projects, from concept through to completion.
Mentor, support, and review the work of junior engineers and technicians.
Lead coordination with multidisciplinary design teams to deliver fully integrated solutions that meet client objectives.
Undertake structural analysis and design in steel, concrete, masonry, and timber using industry-standard software such as Tekla Structural Designer and Fastrak Building Designer.
Conduct inspections, structural assessments, and prepare high-quality technical reports.
Contribute to bids, proposals, and business development activities.
Maintain consistency and quality in all technical outputs including drawings, models, and documentation.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
Chartered Engineer (MIStructE or MICE) status.
10–15 years’ professional experience in structural design and project delivery.
Broad experience across a variety of building types and construction materials.
Strong understanding of Eurocodes and UK design standards.
Excellent communication, leadership, and report‑writing skills.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
