Overview

MCL requires an experienced Civil / Structural Engineer for our Oil and Gas client.

Project name: SOFON - National Maritime Infrastructure

Duration: Estimated 6-month contract (extensions possible)

Rate: 85-90 USD/hour all-inclusive hourly gross rate

Per Diem allowance: If the candidate's permanent address is more than 150 km from the office, they will be eligible for a USD 109 per diem for each calendar day and a USD 1750 mob/demob allowance each way.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Location: Newcastle

Status: Candidates can operate as either Ltd company or UK Umbrella PAYE (please specify preferred option upon application)

Project name: SOFON - National Maritime Infrastructure

Package name: RAK & Yanbu Shipyard Division Package 1 Division

Project phase: Pre-FEED; FEED

Project Scope of Work: In accordance with government directive, Saudi Aramco has been directed to develop the National Maritime Infrastructure Project (Sofon Project) on the Eastern and Western coasts of the Kingdom, which includes naval and commercial shipyards and a leisure shipyard. This project aims to create 140,000 local jobs, promote SMEs, and boost the Kingdom’s economy.

Job Purpose: The candidate must lead, review, assess, and manage scope of work for the FEED/EPC package under the supervision of Senior Project Engineers and the Project Manager. They will also review and guide the FEED/EPC contractor in developing the scope of work.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

• Supervise civil and structural engineering in detailed design, calculations for foundations, buildings, and steel structures.
• Analyze and design modular steel structures, including sea transportation, lifting, skidding, load out, and stress analysis.
• Design structural steel and precast pipe racks, technological structures, blast-resistant buildings, and equipment foundations.
• Design specialist structures such as chimneys, cooling towers, bridges.
• Ensure compliance with international design codes and standards.
• Plan and evaluate engineering work, review drawings and specifications, and monitor compliance.
• Coordinate design efforts and materials requisitions.
• Analyze and respond to technical and contractual disputes.
• Manage change orders and scope alignment with contractors.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
• 10-15 years in Oil and Gas petrochemical projects
• Knowledge of Aramco standards and international codes
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
