Associate Structural Engineer
Bristol Area (Hybrid) | £60,000+

This role sits within a Bath-based structural engineering team working on a diverse portfolio of projects across the UK and internationally. The position is technically demanding and suited to engineers who enjoy creative problem solving, have an interest or aptitude in computational design techniques, and want to be involved in industry-leading approaches to reducing embodied carbon and modern methods of construction.

The successful candidate will have experience across a broad range of projects and sectors and will be motivated by working at the forefront of structural design, delivering innovative and architecturally ambitious solutions with a strong focus on sustainability and social value.

You will be joining a highly regarded structures team known for delivering complex, high-profile, and technically challenging projects. The working environment is collaborative, supportive, and inclusive, offering genuine opportunities for professional growth and career progression.

The role

As an Associate Structural Engineer, responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation of technical specifications and checking the work and outputs of other engineers
  • Leading projects, taking ownership of delivery and maintaining productive, long-term client relationships
  • Reviewing project financial performance and managing resources effectively
  • Mentoring and guiding less experienced team members to support successful project delivery
  • Supporting performance and development review processes within the team
  • Assisting with securing repeat work from existing clients
  • Preparing bid submissions and additional fee proposals with support from senior leadership and bid teams
Skills and experience

Applicants should be able to demonstrate:

  • A strong track record as a technical and project leader with consistent successful delivery within the industry
  • Experience mentoring and leading engineers, with a genuine interest in developing others and encouraging collaborative working
  • UK and international project experience across multiple sectors
  • A solid educational background, ideally including a degree and postgraduate qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Professional registration and membership with a recognised institution such as ICE or IStructE
