Joining the Regulatory Affairs Team for SEA and Renewable Energy Solutions, you will be part of a team that scans the political, legislative, and regulatory landscape for trends and issues that can create or destroy value. Working closely with commercial colleagues, the team builds cases to pursue opportunities or mitigate threats.

Your role will focus on the gas market and certificates for biomethane in Europe, especially in North European markets like the Netherlands.

As a Regulatory Affairs Advisor based in London, you will work with gas and biomethane traders and originators, researching and synthesizing regulations to support business strategies and opportunities related to gas and biomethane in the Netherlands. You will also influence the regulatory framework for gas and biomethane in the Netherlands to support the energy transition and protect SEA’s interests.

Additional responsibilities include:

• Being the subject matter expert on NL gas and biomethane regulation for traders and originators to anticipate, develop insights, and influence regulatory developments.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with internal stakeholders such as Trading & Supply, Compliance, Renewable Energy Solutions, Government Relations, and Legal teams.
• Building strong relationships with national authorities responsible for gas and biomethane regulation.

This role may require occasional or regular travel to the Netherlands and other locations.

We seek individuals with some knowledge of the regulatory framework for gas, biomethane, or renewable certificates (e.g., Guarantees of Origin, transport sustainability certificates) in NL. Proficiency in Dutch and English is required.

The role demands high commercial acumen and creativity to respond effectively under time pressure and in public forums, negotiating with experienced regulatory professionals.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a strong advantage.
• University education, preferably with postgraduate qualifications emphasizing analysis, with strong academic performance.
• Influencing skills to engage and persuade multiple stakeholders.
• Experience interpreting regulations, synthesizing complex information, and understanding commercial implications.
• Ability to advise on the commercial impact of regulatory changes and new activities.
• A proactive, motivated attitude to initiate opportunities, meet targets, and motivate others.
