Job summary

A leading hydraulic systems firm in Heckmondwike is seeking a skilled Hydraulic Fitter responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining advanced hydraulic systems. In this hands-on role, you will conduct quality checks, support factory testing, and install equipment at customer sites. Suitable candidates will have a mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification, along with experience in hydraulic systems and excellent problem-solving skills. On-site work may include occasional overseas travel.

About Us

DHX is the hydraulic engineering arm of Kinetic Solutions Group, delivering high‑performance fluid power systems across sectors including Renewable Energy, Defence, Infrastructure, and Stadia. Based at our Heckmondwike facility in West Yorkshire, we design and build mission‑critical hydraulic equipment for projects across the UK and worldwide.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Hydraulic Fitter to assemble, install, and maintain advanced hydraulic systems. This is a hands‑on role involving both workshop and site work, supporting the delivery and servicing of bespoke engineered solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and test hydraulic systems (HPUs, cylinders, manifolds, pipework).
  • Conduct quality checks and support factory acceptance testing.
  • Install and commission equipment on customer sites, including motors and gearboxes.
  • Perform hydraulic flushing, pressure testing, and servicing.
  • Diagnose faults, carry out maintenance, and prepare service reports.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams, ensuring compliance and documentation.
  • Represent DHX professionally during site visits (UK and occasional overseas travel).
Skills & Experience
  • Mechanical apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with hydraulic systems (build, maintenance, commissioning).
  • Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices and health & safety regulations.
  • Effective communicator, able to work independently or in a team.
