Applications for the position of Deputy Vice President of Lawyers in Local Government are now invited. If you have the strategic vision to lead the company at pace whilst applying creative vision to the provision of membership services, this role will provide a stimulating, rewarding and career enhancing opportunity placing you in direct contact with key stakeholders and corporate partners.
The Deputy Vice President role will commence from the AGM on 29th April 2026 with the successful candidate automatically appointed as Vice President in 2027 and LLG President in 2028.
The successful candidate will be required to undertake the duties as set out below which may include covering events and meetings in the evening or at the weekend. This workload is likely to increase in the role of Vice President and will significantly increase on taking up the Presidency. It is therefore important that you ensure your employer is comfortable with you taking on the role and willing to allow you to be flexible in continuing to meet work commitments as well as commitments in the role of not just Deputy Vice President, but also in the roles of Vice President and President.
The role is not remunerated, but expenses will be paid in line with the company’s expense policy for directors, together with paid for attendance at the LLG Spring Conference and LLG Governance Conference.
Please also provide a statement about yourself together with a photograph to be released to the membership should you proceed to election to enable them to decide who to vote for.
The LLG Board will assess all applications and determine whether or not the criteria has been met before proceeding (if so determined) to a membership election. The Presidential Team may hold interviews to assist in their determination of suitability to proceed. These interviews will take place between 16th and 25th February 2026.
Please submit an application to Membership@llg.org.uk no later than 5pm on 12th February 2026.
If you would like an informal chat please contact our CEO, at Deborah.Evans@llg.org.uk. We can also arrange for you to speak with the current President, Vice President or Deputy Vice President about the role should you wish.
Board meetings are held monthly, usually on a Friday morning and area mix of remote and hybrid. The board aims to have the opportunity to meet 3 times a year as a board and ideally would like to offer more in person opportunities to meet, however these will always have a remote attendance option.
There are two in-person conferences per year (Spring and Governance Conference).
LLG would ask that you aim to attend 6 board meetings a year plus ideally our two residential conferences and be willing to communicate by email or teams/zoom between meetings.
