Associate Psychiatrist - Adult Autism Assessments (Remote)

Rate: £260 per assessment
Contract: Self-employed, outside IR35
Location: Fully remote
Working pattern: Flexible, Monday-Sunday

We are seeking experienced Associate Adult Psychiatrists to deliver high-quality remote autism assessments for adults aged 18+. This role is ideal for clinicians who share strong professional values of commitment, trust, integrity and kindness, and who are passionate about delivering compassionate, evidence-based diagnostic assessments in a fully remote setting.

About the Role

As an Associate Psychiatrist specialising in adult autism assessments, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive remote diagnostic evaluations, formulating diagnoses, and providing clear, compassionate feedback and recommendations.

Key responsibilities
  • Conducting detailed developmental histories using appropriate, evidence-based assessment tools in a remote environment.
  • Observing and engaging adults during virtual assessment sessions, ensuring a thorough yet compassionate approach.
  • Reviewing developmental histories, clinical reports and relevant collateral information within the same assessment session.
  • Formulating diagnostic conclusions and delivering feedback in a kind, age-appropriate and supportive manner, including recommendations and signposting to local and national resources.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) where additional information is required, with the option to offer follow-up sessions if needed to conclude a diagnosis.
  • Producing high-quality, comprehensive diagnostic reports within 48 hours of assessment, in line with relevant diagnostic criteria and report templates (administrative support provided for formatting and quality assurance).
  • Requesting onward referrals where clinically indicated, in accordance with local NHS Trust and ICB pathways.
Clinics & Working Arrangements

Up to four remote assessments per day, paid on a per-assessment basis.

£260 per assessment, self-employed and outside IR35.

Fully remote working model.

Flexible working days available Monday to Sunday, allowing you to tailor work around your availability.

What We're Looking For
  • GMC-registered doctor with a valid licence to practise.
  • CCT in Adult Psychiatry preferred but not essential.
  • Demonstrable expertise and confidence in assessing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in adults remotely.
  • Up-to-date with revalidation and appraisal requirements.
  • A clinician who consistently demonstrates trust, integrity, commitment and kindness.
  • A strong commitment to clinical excellence and high-quality patient care.
