Ideally you will already have clinical skills such as venepuncture, wound care, nursing assessments, male and female catheterisation and administering medication such as insulin, IM injections and intravenous medication when required, however training is available. You will be able to provide excellent end of life care, whilst assessing residents changing needs daily and updating care plans as required.

With strong communication skills you will be expected to demonstrate our core values of Competence, Choice and Compassion at all times, and ensure that our residents are at the centre of everything you do. You will be the point of contact for the wider MDT such as specialist nurses, therapists and GPs, and we utilise RESTORE 2 amongst other clinical tools.

Purpose of role:

To ensure clinical care is delivered and available to residents, and that care workers are safely and appropriately overseen and supported during shift for clinical matters.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. To be directly responsible to the General Manager
2. To work closely with the GP and other members of the wider multidisciplinary team
3. To provide care to a high standard in the following: End of life care; Continence assessments; Diabetes management; Wound care; Assessment of unwell residents; Clinical Observations; Venepuncture; Confirmation of death; Pressure area assessment and care; Swallowing assessments
4. (This list is not exhaustive and may be adapted depending on the needs of residents in the home).
5. To deliver training and support to care staff in delegated tasks as per general manager guidance
6. To participate in the on-call rota shared with other Nurses/Support Team Managers/management
7. To maintain up to date evidence based practice
8. To maintain good team relationships with all staff members throughout the home
9. To role model behaviours, a sound work ethic and Ardale ethos at all times to junior staff, residents and visitors

General Responsibilities:

1. To keep accurate and clear documentation in line with sector specific and legal requirements.
2. To participate in audits as required.
3. To keep abreast of best current approved practice in the profession
4. To attend all mandatory and developmental training courses relevant to the post and as agreed with the line manager.
5. To work in accordance and at all times with all relevant legislation e.g. CQC standards, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Care Standards Act 2000, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Care Act 2014 and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SoVA) etc.
6. To work in accordance with the NMC code of professional standards of practice and behaviour for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.
7. To take an active role in own personal and professional development and identify any development needs with the support of your line manager
8. To act in line with Health and Safety at Work legislation and requirements and in line with Ardale’s approach to Health and Safety at all times.
9. To adhere to all aspects of security and ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff and visitors at all times.
10. At all times to: ensure high levels of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive material and information, to respect the dignity and confidentiality of our service users, and to adhere to the Data Protection Act 1998.
11. To undertake any other duties from time to time, in order to maintain and enhance the service provision and as this role develops
