With an increasing demand for urgent care, we are seeking Emergency Nurse Practitioners and Paramedic Practitioners to join our Urgent Treatment Centre in Ashford, Surrey. The centre operates 7 days a week, 365 days a year, providing high‑quality, evidence‑based, patient‑centred care. You will work as an independent, autonomous practitioner, diagnosing and managing a diverse range of patients, including children over the age of 2 and adults.

Provide the local community with access to both scheduled and unscheduled care provision, 365 days a year, delivering convenient and accessible care. Assess, diagnose, and treat acute episodes of minor health and injury conditions, working in partnership with service users and other health and social care providers, and promoting self‑care and empowerment.

• Work as an autonomous practitioner, providing completed episodes of care to individuals.
• Follow agreed guidelines and protocols where they exist; exercise autonomous decision‑making in their absence.
• Prescribe within your knowledge and skills in accordance with national and local guidelines.
• Apply specialist knowledge of minor injuries and health problems to deliver quality patient care.
• Collaborate with other health and social care providers.
• Encourage service users to contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
• Prioritise service users according to medical need.
• Deliver timely interventions, including emergency and surgical invasive procedures, administration of emergency therapies, and urgent medications.
• Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines based on best evidence‑based practice.
• Refer to primary and secondary services following agreed guidelines, maintaining clear, contemporaneous notes.
• Supply and administer medications in accordance with legislation and organisational policies.
• Maintain knowledge of child protection, elder abuse, and domestic violence; refer to services as necessary.
• Support the Lead Nurse in regular appraisals and staff development.
• Manage performance of other team members where appropriate.
• Allocate an appropriate skill mix to each shift, anticipating and addressing shortfalls.
• Communicate effectively with patients, offering informed choice and addressing anxieties and behaviours.
• Maintain effective communication with team members, ensuring all are kept informed.
• Adhere to Caldicott Guardianship, consent, and confidentiality in line with data protection policies.
• Perform quality controls; conduct risk assessments and forward for action where required.
• Ensure all team members are aware of health and safety, attend mandatory training, and manage incidents through the appropriate reporting mechanisms.
• Manage medicines safely within the unit in accordance with policy.
• Demonstrate awareness of professional development and training needs.
• Support work‑base learning for paramedic/nursing students, HCA, apprentices, and other care providers.
• Act as a supervisor for post-registration nurses within the Walk‑in Centre.
• Engage in reflective practice and clinical supervision regularly.
• Comply with organisational medicines policy and non‑medical prescribing guidance.
• Monitor and explore opportunities for savings to maintain service efficiency.
• Undertake clinical audit to review practice and service, reporting audit results.

• Minimum 4 years post‑registration experience in an ED or UTC/walk‑in centre.
• Proven track record in research‑based practice.
• Experience with audit.
• Experience of managing within a healthcare setting.
• Experience of staff management.
• Evidence of professional development.

• Registered Nurse Level 1 or HCPC registered paramedic.
• Post‑registration diploma or equivalent in advanced assessment skills for non‑medical practitioners.
• Post‑registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor injury for advanced practice.
• Post‑registration diploma or equivalent in managing minor illness/health problems for advanced practice.
• ILS or willingness to undertake.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.

• Experience of multi‑disciplinary working.
• Non‑medical prescriber.
