The Mechanical Design Engineer will collaborate with specialists from other disciplines, providing mechanical design expertise to support business opportunities. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing technology, creating concept designs, and preparing bids and proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Generating concept design proposals and feasibility studies to support product development programs
• Carrying out elements of product design
• Contributing to the development of engineering excellence within the business
• Providing mechanical engineering expertise in support of future business opportunities

Qualifications / Skills required

• A degree or higher in mechanical engineering
• Broad knowledge of engineering aspects such as systems, electrical, electro-mechanical, and rotating machinery
• Experience in manufacturing methods for electrical enclosures, including metal fabrications, castings, welding, machining, and corrosion protection
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably AutoDesk Inventor
• Good knowledge of materials
• Knowledge of design lifecycle processes like gated design phases and reviews
• Experience designing for shock, EMC, and thermal requirements
• Strong communication skills and confidence in presenting to customers

Desirable:

• Experience in Defence / Aerospace or safety-regulated environments
• Experience in Naval / Maritime domains
• Self-driven with workload management skills under challenging timescales
• Eagerness to learn and shape organizational engineering practices
