Rotherham With Me In Mind (Mental Health Support Team) were fortunate to be one of the national 'trailblazer' sites for developing mental health support in schools back in 2019. This is an exciting time for us as we continue to grow and develop, the Senior Education Mental Health Practitioner posts are part of our Wave 14 expansion. We are a large team with approx. 40 staff and with the wave 14 expansion we will have coverage of approx. 85% of educational settings in Rotherham.

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x band 6 to join our Rotherham team as Senior Education Mental Health Practitioners. For these posts, we are looking for someone who:

Interviews for this role will be on the 6th January at Kimberworth Place. There will be both a service and young person interview panel

If you will need to attend the supervision course at university for this post, the deadline for completing the application, post successful interview, will be the 12th January 2026.

Main duties of the job

Hold either an Education Mental Health or Children's Wellbeing Practitioner qualification (either a Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate) or an equivalent level of professional qualification

Be registered with a regulating body and maintain registration with such body*

Provide case management and clinical supervision to EMHPs and Trainee EMHPs under the direction of the Senior Clinicians and Clinical Lead

Manage a caseload and the provision of Mental Health Care services to children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems in education settings

Provide assessment and formulation of mental health difficulties in children and young people

Offer evidence-based practice in guided self-help, CBT, child and adolescent mental health practice and Whole School Approaches to mental health

Lead on triage routes for our low intensity referrals.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • and registration CYP IAPT CWP supervisor training or willing to undertake it.
  • Registered with the BABCP or BPS as an EMHP (or applied for this)
  • A qualification or have undertaken a program of formal training supervision
Experience
  • Consolidated, supervised post qualifying experience (normally 2 years, as advised by HEE) in developing and delivering the range of evidence-based low intensity interventions such as group psychoeducation, guided self‑help and parent‑led CBT. with children and young people across the full age range (5‑ 18) and with parents / carers
  • Experience of peer supervision
  • Experience of planning and delivering whole school emotional wellbeing activities through a variety of mediums e.g., face to face and digital
  • Experience of delivering training to a range of professionals through a variety of different mediums e.g., face to face and digital.
  • Experience of communicating evidence-based theory led information to a diverse range of audiences
  • Experience of mentoring or supervising Trainee EMHPs
  • Experience of audit and research. Significant experience of working within an educational setting
  • Experience of working directly with senior leadership teams in service context (e.g., education, health, VCSE) to support design and delivery of programmes, policy, pathways, support offers etc
  • Experience of negotiating, problem solving and relationship management where there are disagreements or resistance within systems
  • Experience of working with risk and knowledge of safeguarding procedures within health and education
  • Experience of managing and prioritising a high caseload
  • Experience of Multi‑Disciplinary Working
  • Currently engaged in an advanced level of practice and able to demonstrate a degree of professional autonomy
  • The ability to provide patient‑centred assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation with children, young people, parents and families
  • Ability to undertake Risk Assessments and identify appropriate plans in partnerships with the young person, families and other agencies
  • Experience of providing supervision to junior members of staff.
