Job summary

A reputable educational institution in the UK is seeking a Learning Support Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people. The ideal candidate should have a sporty background and be able to engage students aged 9-13, particularly those with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role offers the chance to build strong relationships with students and work alongside a welcoming team, with potential for a permanent position. Qualifications

Job Description: Learning Support Assistant – Sporty Role Model | SEMH Boys' School (Horsham/Billingshurst)

Location: Between Horsham and Billingshurst
Position: Learning Support Assistant (Upper Primary)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm (5:00pm finish on Mondays)
Pay: £127 per day (via agency), temp-to-perm
Permanent Salary: £26,270
Start Date: September 2025

Are you passionate about supporting young people and making a difference? Do you have a sporty background or an active interest in sports? We are working with a fantastic all-boys SEMH school, located between Horsham and Billingshurst, who are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join their upper primary provision.

The school supports boys with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and additional learning needs. They are looking for a positive role model – someone who can build strong relationships, encourage participation, and support pupils both emotionally and academically.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent support in and out of class to students aged 9–13.
  • Use sport and physical activity as a tool for engagement.
  • Support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and learning needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and therapists to implement strategies that meet each child’s needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Sporty, active, or with experience coaching/mentoring young people.
  • Calm, patient, and positive in the face of challenges.
  • Experience with SEMH or additional needs is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Committed to a long-term role with opportunity to go permanent.
