Role: Lecturer - Construction (Technical and Professional)

Location: Bedford College - Cauldwell Street Campus

Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £33,048 and £38,169 per annum (Pro‑Rata) DOE and Qualifications, 45 days annual leave (Pro‑Rata) plus Bank holidays, Teacher’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses. Note – Salary and Annual Leave entitlement is for that of a Qualified Lecturer.

Contract Type: UK based contract. You must have the Right to Work in the UK. Sponsorship is not offered and any offer of employment will be subject to evidence of this right.

About the role: We are currently seeking a Lecturer in Construction to join our Construction department at The Bedford College Group.

• Teaching & Assessment – Prepare, deliver, assess, and verify Level 3 to HNC courses in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Design, Survey, and Planning in line with college policies.
• Course Management – Support enrolment, timetabling, internal verification, and external moderation; maintain course files, assessment plans, and attend team meetings.
• Student Progression – Monitor progress, set targets, implement interventions, manage attendance and punctuality, and organise employability activities such as work experience and trips.
• Data & Compliance – Ensure accurate registration, certification and reporting; maintain ILPs, liaise with support teams and comply with awarding body and college data requirements.
• Professional Standards – Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety; engage in marketing, CPD and other departmental and college‑wide responsibilities.

• Qualifications – Level 4 in Construction Management/Civil Engineering, Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy, safeguarding and EDI training; willingness to achieve PGCE/CertEd.
• Experience – Proven ability to deliver high‑quality learning, work with diverse groups, promote equality and diversity and meet team objectives and deadlines.
• Skills & Knowledge – Strong curriculum understanding, industry/trade experience, confidence in Microsoft Office and effective communication across all channels.
• Professional Standards – Ability to uphold the college reputation, maintain professional boundaries and comply with health & safety and safeguarding requirements.
• Flexibility & Development – Commitment to CPD, adaptable working hours and willingness to work across all college locations.

Bedford College has sites across the town and surrounding areas, including our main Cauldwell Street campus, a hair and beauty salon on the High Street, an advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and a gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.
