Job summary

A leading educational agency is seeking experienced Learning Support Practitioners for diverse roles within primary schools in the United Kingdom. The position involves supporting teachers, preparing classrooms, and assisting students both individually and in small groups. Successful candidates will have prior experience in educational settings and must demonstrate strong communication and behavior management skills. This role requires a commitment to safeguarding and will involve an Enhanced DBS check.

Qualifications

Job description

Academics are currently looking for experienced Learning Support Practitioners (LSP) for day-to-day and short/long term roles within our partnership primary schools. Working across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and the surrounding areas can be diversified, meaning that we work with an assortment of primary schools and that we do have different requirements to suit.

We are proud to say that here at Academics we have had a strong record of placing many of our Learning Support Practitioners into permanent work following a successful period of long term supply within our primary schools.

Responsibilities
  • Supporting the teacher with the delivery of the lesson.
  • Preparing the classroom for lessons, such as setting up equipment.
  • Managing behaviour and engaging learners with their own learning.
  • Working with learners either 1-2-1 or in small groups.
  • Committed to support both the teacher and the students to succeed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience of working with children in a primary school or educational setting in the UK.
  • Confident communication skills and to be a excellent motivator in the classroom (1-2-1 or small group support).
  • Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to support learners in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • A good level of literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English and Maths Grade 4 or Grade C and above/Functional Skills Level 2 in the minimum required).
  • A current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service, or you will be prepared to apply for a new DBS with ourselves (cost applied).
