As a Materials Technician, you will be responsible for efficiently assisting in the quality assurance of quarrying and surfacing products. This includes conducting onsite and offsite materials testing and updating electronic records.

1. Test and sample aggregate, concrete, bituminous, unbound, and earthworks materials, including grading analysis, binder content, and physical, chemical, and mechanical testing in a safe and efficient manner.
2. Conduct daily organoleptic checks for lab, production facilities, and all stockpiles.
3. Maintain a safe and tidy workspace and ensure the efficient running of the laboratory.
4. Follow company and accrediting bodies' quality procedures and protocols to maintain quality standards.
5. Record sample details on test record sheets and laboratory software.
6. Calibrate all testing equipment.
7. Prepare for inspections from independent accrediting bodies.
8. Undertake daily laboratory equipment checks.
9. Investigate all material-related complaints and provide feedback and evidence to support findings.

1. Previous experience in sampling and testing of construction materials or transferable skills (full training will be provided).
2. Awareness of safety on construction sites or production depots.
3. Flexibility in working patterns.
4. Physical ability to handle sampling and bulky materials.
5. Capacity to operate mechanical equipment such as asphalt road coring drills.
6. Hold a full driving license and capable of operating a small commercial van.
7. Enjoy interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors.
8. Ability to handle administrative paperwork.
9. Planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
10. Ability to work independently.
