About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Risk and Compliance Officer to join our 2nd Line of Defence (2LoD) team. This is a pivotal role supporting both the Head of Compliance and the Senior Risk Manager in overseeing regulatory compliance and operational risk across the business. You will play a key role in ensuring Onmo maintains a strong risk and control environment while embedding a culture of compliance and good conduct.
Responsibilities
Compliance Support:
- Assist in monitoring regulatory developments (FCA, PRA, and other relevant bodies) and support horizon scanning activities.
- Support the Head of Compliance with periodic compliance monitoring and thematic reviews.
- Maintain and update compliance policies, procedures, and registers (e.g., breaches, gifts & hospitality, conflicts of interest).
- Assist in coordinating regulatory reporting, information requests, and audits.
- Help deliver compliance training and awareness sessions to business teams
- Support SMCR-related activities, including maintaining accurate records.
Risk & Control Support:
- Work with the Risk and Control Manager to maintain and update the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework.
- Assist in risk incident logging, tracking, and reporting.
- Help monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and prepare risk dashboards for management reporting.
- Support the assessment and documentation of internal controls, including control testing.
- Contribute to risk event root cause analysis and remediation tracking.
- Assist in preparing materials for the Risk and Compliance Committee.
General:
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in risk and compliance processes.
- Liaise with 1st Line business teams to provide guidance and support on risk and compliance matters.
- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
FCA Compliance & Consumer Duty:
At Onmo we all take collective responsibility for our individual roles in creating the best outcomes for our customers. In this role that involves:
- Conduct training and awareness sessions across the business to ensure staff understand theirroles in upholding FCA standards and delivering good customer outcomes under the ConsumerDuty
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Product, Commercial, Operations) to ensure customer interactions support good outcomes and are aligned with regulatory expectations.
- Support product governance and risk assessments to products consumer duty requirements
- Carry out regular compliance reviews to identify gaps, recommend corrective actions, and track remediation through to completion.

About You
Skills & Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in a risk, compliance, or internal controls role within financial services, preferably in a fintech or payments environment.
- Working knowledge of FCA regulations (CONC, SYSC, SMCR) and good conduct practices.
- Understanding of operational risk management frameworks (RCSA, incident management, control testing).
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with risk management tools is a plus.
- Self-starter with a proactive and positive attitude.
Desirable Sklls
- Progress towards (or interest in) a relevant qualification (e.g., ICA Certificate in Compliance/Risk, IRM, or equivalent).
- Previous experience supporting compliance monitoring plans or control assurance activities.
