Grounds Maintenance Lead Operative
Job summary
A local recruitment agency is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Lead Operative to manage a team and operate equipment for city-wide maintenance tasks in Wolverhampton. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about environmental services and leading teams effectively. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications, including an NVQ in horticulture and a manual driving licence. - Operate vehicles and equipment for grounds maintenance tasks.

Location: Flexible within the City of Wolverhampton.
Contract Type: Temporary for a 12 month period.
Pay rate: £15.56 per hour.
Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon–Thurs: 07:30–15:30, Fri: 07:30–15:00.
- Operate a range of vehicles and equipment, including ride-on mowers and trailers, ensuring safe and effective use.
- Lead a small team in executing grounds maintenance tasks, including turf care, shrub pruning, and hedge cutting.
- Motivate and deploy team members efficiently to maximise productivity.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and maintain equipment to the highest standards.
- Liaise with various stakeholders to promote a positive image of the service and enhance community relations.
- A current manual driving licence (up to 3.5 tonne) and relevant qualifications (C1 or C1+E).
- NVQ Level 2 or higher in horticulture or equivalent.
- PA 1 & PA6 chemical application certification.
- Strong leadership skills and experience in managing teams.
