Job description
Job Summary

37.5 hours per week. This role is only open to those that have completed the Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner training. The postholder is responsible for supporting the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing of children and young people with a drive for early intervention, enabling cultural change in the way first contact services can support children and young people with mental health problems. Providing low intensity CBT to young people.

In line with 2015 Future in Mind strategic vision for CAMHS the post holder will actively promote resilience, prevention and early intervention to children and young people in the community.

The post holder will work with the CAMHS Liaison Practitioners to support children and young people where there is concern about emerging mental health issues or behaviours.

The post holder will support the consultation process to the network or directly to the child, young person and their family. The post holder will be have an identified role as directed by the liaison practitioner, in further assessment, targeted intervention or group work that would meet the needs of the child or young person.

The post holder will deliver training to community services and schools.

This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

All staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Early Help Team with children and young people who may present with emerging mental health difficulties.

To deliver evidence based targeted interventions in a timely manner

To contribute to the community assessment clinics to ensure that children and young people and the appropriate interventions.

Delivery of group based. To support the delivery of evidence based parenting programmes for children and young people with mental health issues.

Represent CAMHS in multi-agency meetings meetings or child protection meetings.

Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS)

Participate in the delivery of training programmes for schools and community services from a portfolio of available CAMHS training

Maintain standards of care to highest level within available resources.

To actively participate in line management with senior and junior members of staff.

To maintain confidentiality in respect of the young people at all times.

Communicate clearly with children and young people, their families and all other health professionals.

Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, e.g. clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development.

Ensure that children and young people are encouraged to play a part in decision making . To promote person-centred planning.

Essential

  • Experience of working with children and/or young people.

Desirable

  • Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working in mental health or related services.
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place to demonstrating outcomes.

Qualifications

  • A candidate will need to have completed the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) IAPT training to be eligible to apply for this role.
  • Evidence of undergraduate level study or the equivalent.
  • Evidence of numeracy.

Desirable

  • Psychology or other health or social care or youth related undergraduate degree.
  • Other relevant postgraduate degree.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young peoples emotional well-being.
  • Understanding of systems and contexts in which children and young people are likely to live.

Desirable

  • Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health problems experienced by children and young people.
  • Able to identify common mental health problems in children and young people.
  • Understands why it is essential to use evidence-based interventions when possible.
  • Understands why collecting feedback from children, young people and parents is important.
