A leading gallery in London is seeking a Digital Archivist to enhance their documentation and research database. The role involves development and acquisition of research materials, data indexing, and collaboration with a small team. Ideal candidates are highly motivated with a keen eye for detail, familiar with MS Office and Excel, and should have an interest in archives and art history.

Full-Time
A leading London gallery in the field of Antiques and Fine Art is requesting a bright archivist to grow, improve and maintain their documentation and research database. The candidate will work in a largely self-directed capacity. The candidate has the opportunity to grow in the role and advance subject to performance and as the database develops.
Developing
Develop a deep understanding of the database, how it’s used and its strengths and limitations.
Understanding the documentary materials available for acquisition and future indexing and where and how they can be sourced.
Ongoing
Organise the acquisition of new research materials working to acquisition budgets.
Digitisation of paper collections.
Indexing and correcting data relating to documentation type, dates, object titles.
Creating glossaries to aid usability and accuracy.
Propose new solutions for software development.
Share in the vision and contribute to the future scope of the project.
Discovering where to acquire new content.
Team playing and achieving
Working within a small team to call on expertise when required and consult as to user experience.
Consult with software engineers/coders to develop improvements in the back-end and front-end of the database software.
Demonstrable relevant learning from work experience, academic study or external interest in the field of archives, data entry, organisation of collections.
A demonstrable knowledge or interest in the history of art is desirable but not essential.
MS Office, high proficiency in Excel. Exceptional attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Highly motivated and able to demonstrate initiative. Good time management skills. An ability to set priorities, manage a number of tasks concurrently and function with limited supervision.
Right to live and work in the UK
Knowledge of French & German is desirable but not essential.
