We're currently recruiting an ambitious Sous Chef to help us create exceptional food experiences for Levy on a full-time basis, contracted to 40 hours per week. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and serving food that brightens our clients' and customers' days, within the market-leading food service company in the UK. Role Summary:
To assist in delivering catering support services that provide competitive advantages to the Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club Academy teams. You will work with the Training Ground Head Chef, Academy Lead Chef, and nutritionist for all food production across the Academy & staff.
You will assist in developing performance menus alongside the Lead Chef and nutritionist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the nutritionist and Lead Chef to plan innovative, performance-focused weekly menus for the Academy.
- Deputise in the Lead Chef’s absence at the Academy and training ground when required.
- Assist in creating performance recipes to meet sport nutrition requirements, providing recipes to the Head of Nutrition to ensure high quality and portion control.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety, including completing mandatory food safety records.
- Support junior chefs in developing culinary skills and nutritional knowledge.
- Coordinate the work of chefs and porters to ensure efficient food production aligned with nutritional requirements.
- Work with the Lead Chef to minimise waste.
- Lead cooking lessons for senior academy players on rotation.
- Assist in conducting food safety risk assessments and reviewing food safety systems.
- Maintain and rotate stock levels to ensure standards are met.
- Check delivery notes against requisitions daily and report discrepancies.
- This role requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, including Christmas and New Year.
- Travel to away fixtures and work with hotel chefs to ensure high standards of food presentation.
- Lead and support the culinary team in the absence of the Lead Chef.
- Maintain a proactive and forward-thinking working approach.
Person Specification: Skills, Abilities, and Experience
- Excellent organisational skills for yourself and team members.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel & Word).
- Food Hygiene Level 2 or higher.
- Forward-thinking, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong personnel management and relationship-building skills.
- Effective communication skills at all organisational levels.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to prioritise conflicting demands.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Commitment to professional development.
- Experience in professional sport or working with hotel chefs for away fixtures is desirable but not essential.
