Salary

The on-target earning potential for this role is £35,193.60, comprising a base rate of £33,196.80 supplemented by an estimated £1,996.80 in gratuities, ensuring a rewarding compensation package.

About the role

We’re looking for a hardworking and proactive Back of House Assistant Manager to help oversee the smooth running of our kitchen operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll work alongside the kitchen porter team across all five kitchens, supporting the Kitchen Porter Manager to maintain clean, organised, and fully equipped spaces. You’ll lead by example, ensuring high standards and smooth coordination in a fast-paced environment while stepping in to manage when required.

You’ll play a key part in keeping operations efficient and compliant, liaising with chefs and kitchen staff to meet daily needs, and motivating the porter team to deliver exceptional standards.

This role is for 48 hours per week working a variety of shifts and will include weekends and evenings.

Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day management of the kitchen porter team
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen areas
  • Organise cleaning schedules and ensure duties are carried out efficiently and thoroughly
  • Assist with inventory management of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment
  • Train and motivate new and existing porters
  • Step in for the Kitchen Porter Manager when needed
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations
  • Liaise with chefs and kitchen staff to meet operational needs
  • About you: Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen setting
  • Experience in a supervisory or team leader capacity is required. Rota management skills are preferred.
  • Food Safety Level 2 and COSHH understanding
  • Strong work ethic with a hands-on, lead by example approach
  • Excellent time management and communication skills
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and health & safety standards
