We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Affairs Advisor to join the Corporate Affairs team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

What we do:

Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year, can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this.

We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity.

New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Corporate Affairs function are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Help us deliver projects that make a real difference. In this role, you’ll keep stakeholders informed and engaged on our Capital Schemes, working closely with teams across the business to ensure smooth delivery and clear communication. You’ll create engagement plans, lead meetings, turn complex details into simple messages, and gather feedback to improve our approach. If you’re proactive, collaborative, and ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you.

Where you fit in:
As our Corporate Affairs Advisor you will:
  • Be the voice of clarity—help stakeholders understand the benefits and progress of our Capital Schemes by supporting the Corporate Affairs team.
  • Work collaboratively across teams, including Capital Delivery, Streetworks, and Brand & Communications, to ensure projects run smoothly and communications are consistent.
  • Create and deliver stakeholder engagement plans that keep everyone informed and address concerns quickly and effectively.
  • Develop engaging materials with our communications team that align with our brand and make complex information easy to understand.
  • Lead and coordinate stakeholder meetings, from planning and preparation to presenting clear, actionable updates.
  • Turn technical details into compelling narratives, showing the positive impact of our schemes on local communities.
  • Gather and act on feedback, embedding insights into future engagement strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Take ownership of your work, using initiative to find the best way forward and achieve outstanding results.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
  • Extensive experience in public affairs, either within an agency or in-house environment, or strong transferable skills.
  • Deep political awareness with excellent understanding of local and national government structures and processes.
  • Exceptional writing ability, capable of producing high‑quality briefings and translating complex information into clear, compelling narratives.
  • Adaptable and responsive, able to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proven success in delivering impactful stakeholder engagement campaigns.
  • A degree‑level qualification, ideally in politics, communications, human geography, or public relations.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills, combined with strong IT proficiency.
  • Highly organised and detail‑oriented, with excellent planning capabilities.

Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life. We know that juggling childcare responsibilities or getting that ideal work/life balance isn’t always easy!
