Job description

How would you like to get paid for five days, but only work four?

At Outcomes First Group, we believe in better work/life balance — and we’re putting wellbeing first.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of a 4-Day Working Week (4DWW) trial, where you can work one day less each week (or equivalent hours), while still receiving your full-time pay.

Many of our schools have already introduced the 4DWW — and others are preparing to roll it out as soon as they reach full staffing. So, whether it’s already in place or just around the corner, now’s the perfect time to join #teamOFG.

  • Job Title: Science Teacher
  • Location: Bricklehurst Manor School, Stonegate, East Sussex, TN5 7EL
  • Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience (not pro rata)
  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8:00am – 4:00pm
  • Contract: Fixed Term | Term Time Only
  • Start: January 2026
  • UK Applicants Only — this role does not offer sponsorship.

Are you an inspiring Science Teacher who brings learning to life? Do you believe in the power of creativity, curiosity, and compassion to transform a young person’s educational journey? If you’re ready to make a lasting impact, Bricklehurst Manor School wants to hear from you!

Nestled in the stunning East Sussex countryside, Bricklehurst Manor School is a growing specialist provision dedicated to supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Science Teacher to join us on a fixed term contract, helping shape exciting learning experiences and meaningful progress for every pupil.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to deliver an engaging, hands-on Science curriculum within a nurturing and therapeutic environment. As part of our passionate, multi-disciplinary team, you will:

  • Inspire learners aged 11–16 with creative and accessible Science lessons
  • Support students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to overcome barriers, rediscover their love of learning, and build confidence
  • Contribute to a vibrant and supportive school community where every staff member plays a vital role
  • Help shape an evolving specialist SEN provision with big ambitions and a strong sense of purpose
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver a broad, differentiated and inspiring Science curriculum tailored to diverse SEMH needs
  • Create a positive, engaging classroom atmosphere that fosters curiosity and confidence
  • Use multi-sensory, inclusive teaching approaches to support a range of learning styles
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental planning
  • Track progress, set aspirational targets, and provide meaningful feedback
  • Work closely with therapists, support staff and senior leaders to provide holistic support
  • Embed SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) development across science learning
  • Maintain high expectations and promote positive behaviour using SEMH-informed strategies
What We’re Looking For
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS
  • A passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs
  • Experience in specialist settings (SEMH/Alternative Provision) – desirable but not essential
  • Strong classroom management and the ability to inspire and engage pupils with complex needs
  • A resilient, flexible, and compassionate approach to teaching
  • Full UK Driving Licence

This is more than just a teaching role – it’s a chance to leave a lasting impact. You will help shape the culture, ethos, and curriculum of a school designed to empower pupils to achieve their best. Bricklehurst Manor offers a creative, inclusive, and supportive environment, where innovation is encouraged and every member of staff is valued as part of our growing team.

About the School

Bricklehurst Manor School is a brand-new, co‑educational SEMH school located in Wadhurst, East Sussex, for pupils aged 11–16. The school will cater for up to 60 pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated additional needs.

This is a unique opportunity to join the school at its inception, helping to shape the culture, ethos, and learning environment. With small class sizes and a strong focus on personalised support, Bricklehurst Manor School provides a nurturing, inclusive setting where every pupil can build confidence, resilience, and achieve their full potential.
