Vision for Education are working with PRU (Pupil Referral Unit) and alternative provision settings in North Shields to recruit a resilient and experienced SEMH Teaching Assistant. This full‑time role, starting as soon as possible, involves supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs including those who display challenging behaviour or who have been permanently excluded from mainstream school.
This is a demanding yet highly rewarding position for a skilled professional with experience in SEMH support, behaviour management, or alternative education. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, families, and external agencies to deliver targeted interventions, promote positive behaviour, and help pupils re‑engage with learning in a highly supportive environment.
Please note: Previous experience in SEMH or PRU settings is essential. A current Team Teach qualification (or equivalent positive handling training) is highly desirable.
