  • Contract type: Permanent

    Hours: Full-time, 35 hours

Location: Head Office, Nottingham (Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week)

Here at the FP&A team at the Nottingham Building Society we love spending time with our colleagues around the business and showing the value that a modern, forward thinking Finance team can bring. We are on the look out for a Cost Business Partner to help us with that mission, primarily focused on Tech and Transformation the successful candidate will have great opportunities to work with SMEs across the business and be a key partner of our CTO.

If you have experience of smashing out cost month ends, are able to understand and tell the story of what is actually happening and love nothing more than partnering with the business to build (and deliver) compelling business case then we want to hear from you!
Here's a taste of what you will be doing as a Finance Business Partner (Tech & Investments) at Nottingham Building Society: -
    • Financial Leadership: Leads on finance aspects of business cases and ensures accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
    • Cost Reporting & Budgeting: Contributes to the design and improvement of cost reporting and budgeting systems for the Tech business area.
    • Efficiency & Cost Control: Drives cost control initiatives and recommends efficiency improvements using benchmarking and analysis.
    • Stakeholder Engagement: Partners with key head office stakeholders and leadership teams to support financial performance and project delivery.
    • Reporting & Insight: Produces payroll and non-payroll cost reports, and provides financial insight and challenge to stakeholders.
    • Governance & Support: Maintains finance controls and policies, supports project cost analysis, and assists the Head of FP&A with financial reporting tasks.
    • Annual Budget Oversight: Manages a total spend across multiple senior stakeholders.
    • No Direct Reports: The role does not have any staff directly reporting to the jobholder.
    About you: -
    • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting systems, budget processes, cost management and capital item treatment
    • Industry Experience: Familiar with building society operations and internal reporting deadlines
    • Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with A level education and good GCSEs in maths and English
    • Professional Experience: Moderate experience in accounting and cost management with a focus on financial accuracy and control
    • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communicator with experience influencing stakeholders and presenting financial insight
    • Collaboration and Change: Skilled in cross functional working, supporting change and driving efficiencies through continuous improvement
    • Delivery and Planning: Capable of meeting deadlines, managing dependencies and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders
    Reward & Benefits -
    • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, Medicash healthcare scheme, 29 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
    • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
    • For all full-time roles we work a 35-hour working week to promote a work/life balance, we want you to be at your best inside and outside of work.
    • A friendly and inclusive culture where teams genuinely strive to do the right thing by their colleagues and our customers.
    • A strong sustainability agenda - we're continually finding new ways to be kinder to the environment by reducing our carbon footprint.
    • We're passionate about giving back to the communities in which we serve as well as supporting local charities as part of the Samuel Fox Foundation. One of the many ways you can get involved is to use the 2 days per year paid leave to volunteer for causes or charities that are important to you.
    • Your health and wellbeing is our priority, we encourage this through a suite of support resources, including a team of trained mental health first aiders.
    Embracing Diversity Together: -

We proudly embrace and celebrate diversity as a fundamental cornerstone of our values. We believe that a diverse and inclusive workplace is not just essential for our success but is also a reflection of the vibrant communities we serve. Our commitment to diversity extends beyond our internal culture to the way we approach advertising and engage with our customers.

Our commitment means actively working to eliminate barriers and biases that may hinder equal opportunities within our organisation. We strive to ensure that all individuals, regardless of background, have an equal chance to thrive and advance in their careers.

We acknowledge that diversity is not just a goal to be achieved but a continuous journey toward creating an environment that embraces differences and promotes equal opportunities for all. We are committed to fostering an inclusive culture that encourages collaboration, creativity, and a sense of belonging for every member of our community.
