Job summary

A regional fire service organization is seeking an Equality Diversity & Inclusion Support Officer who will promote inclusion and assist in key initiatives. The successful candidate should hold a Level 4 qualification in ED&I or HR and have experience in data analysis and interpersonal communication. This role offers flexibility in working arrangements and is a great opportunity to join a passionate team dedicated to bettering the community.

Description

Salary : Grade F - 39152 - 41771 per annum (rising by annual increments to 41771). More information on salaries and progression can be found on our pay and policies page.

Hours of work

Full Time 37 hours per week.

Contract type

Temporary 1-year fixed term contract or until return of substantive postholder.

Location

The service encourages flexible working and believes that work is what you do not where you do role will be based at Service Headquarters Salisbury with the flexibility to work from home / DWFRS Stations / Support Offices and we would welcome a conversation with the successful candidate on what type of flexible working arrangement will work best for you. There will be a requirement to attend any Service location for key activities meetings and to deliver training approx. 2 3 days per week.

As the Equality Diversity & Inclusion Support Officer you will :
  • Network with internal and external stakeholders to promote and increase inclusion for all.
  • Provide a wide range of support to the Equality Diversity & Inclusion Manager including the innovation and delivery of key initiatives.
  • Support the review of equality diversity and inclusion policy and procedure in line with statutory responsibility and best practice.
  • Analyse data or information associated with Equality Diversity & Inclusion identify trends and make recommendations.
  • Manage the People Impact Assessment (PIA) process providing advice to managers and ensure that PIAs are completed effectively updated when required and monitor the completion of identified actions.
  • Oversee the content and updating of EDI information on the Service website Connect pages and publishing communications in line with our EDI communications plan.

  • Role specific Level 4 qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level in ED&I or HR.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Equality Diversity & Inclusion legislation.
  • Experience in a similar role carrying out a range of training or promoting Equality Diversity & Inclusion or able to show transferable experience.
  • Experience of analysing data and producing recommendations.
  • Being an exemplary leader in fairness equity diversity and inclusion and brimming with ideas to promote these.

Other Information
  • You must have a full current driving licence and be able to fulfil the significant travel requirements of the role. Use of your own vehicle will be required; however a Service vehicle may be available. The travel requirements of the role are not the same every week but the successful post‑holder should be prepared to travel within the Service area 2-3 days a week. If you are unable to drive due to a disability we would still welcome your application and will explore any reasonable adjustments that could be put in place.
  • The role involves some evening working to deliver training at fire stations across Dorset & Wiltshire.
  • A Standard Disclosure & Barring Service Check (DBS) clearance will be undertaken on the successful individual prior to offer of employment.
  • Any offer of employment will be subject to full pre‑employment checks which include identity checks right to work in the UK medical negative drug test and receipt of satisfactory references verification of employment history and an explanation of any gaps in employment in the last 3 years.
