Trial Balance Consulting are delighted to have been engaged by a high profile, professionally operated commercial construction business that seeks to recruit an experienced Assistant Accountant to join them on a full-time, permanent basis. The role will work from the company’s Paignton-based headquarters and as part of a small, energetic finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller but working closely with several heads of department, this is a broad and interesting opportunity that would be ideal for an experienced accounts assistant seeking career progression beyond their current role. Key responsibilities include:

1. General accounting support to the financial controller
2. Playing a key role in preparing monthly management accounts with commentary
3. Assisting in project costings
4. Budget, variance, and reporting analysis
5. Cash flow forecasting
6. Aged debtor management and maintenance
7. Reconciliation of purchase ledger invoices
8. Preparing supplier payment runs
9. General ledger analysis
10. Other ad-hoc finance tasks and accounting projects

Ideal candidates will have at least 18 months of experience in a similar environment, either part/fully AAT qualified or qualified by experience. Previous experience in the construction sector and project costing would be advantageous but are not essential if the candidate has the right aptitude. Excellent communication skills and strong IT proficiency are required, as this is a team-oriented role working with internal and external stakeholders.
