Job description

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Who We Are

We are Malin Marine Consultants (part of Malin Group). We offer a range of specialist technical services across a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines, specialising in early stage design development, feasibility studies and R&D in the commercial marine, renewables and defence industries.

Why join us?

MMC has a growing portfolio of exciting projects
across a wide range of technical disciplines, and we are expanding our team to help deliver them. We offer a unique environment where you can apply and expand your skills on developing technologies and innovative maritime solutions, supported by a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. By joining us, you will become a key player in a forward-thinking team dedicated to not just meeting industry standards, but setting them, ensuring your career is both rewarding and future-proof.

About the role

As Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning and execution of technical work packages, organising and managing technical resources,
and contributing to the efficient delivery of our projects. Your role will include project management, planning and reporting, engagement with stakeholders at all levels, preparation and review of project deliverables, and technical leadership. You will liaise with clients and subcontractors, attend project meetings, oversee work packages, manage change, and take responsibility for work packages that will contribute to effective execution of complex projects.
In addition, you will contribute to quality assurance processes, lead improvements in internal technical procedures, provide training and mentoring to junior engineers, and support business development through client engagement and representation.

What we're looking for?

We are looking for a well‑rounded Senior Project Engineer with a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and creativity to excel in a fast‑paced, dynamic engineering environment. You will lead the development of innovative, efficient, and reliable solutions, delivering impactful designs that meet both current and future industry demands. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or have equivalent industry experience, with proven ability to manage complex projects, work collaboratively across teams, and drive high‑quality engineering solutions from concept through to completion.

Skills that will help you in the role
  • Strong technical expertise in a marine‑related engineering design discipline
  • Proven project management skills, including planning, coordination, and delivery of complex engineering projects
  • Advanced problem‑solving and creative thinking abilities to develop innovative and efficient solutions
  • Leadership and team collaboration skills to guide multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective client and team interaction
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Where will you be working?

We are based at the iconic South Rotunda building on the South bank of the River Clyde (just at the squinty bridge). There are numerous gyms and other facilities in the area and the upcoming (some say already arrived) area of Finnieston is a 15‑minute walk where there are any number of bars and restaurants. Glasgow itself is a vibrant and welcoming city with character, personality and great experiences. Named the UK's top cultural and creative city in 2019 by the European Commission and in Time Out's top 10 best cities in the world 2019 it is a great place to live and work.

How we'll reward you

As well as a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits that you can choose from and tailor to your needs.

  • 34 days annual leave
  • Eligible for discretionary annual bonus - up to 15% of your annual salary
  • Benefits supporting you and your family, such as death-in-service.
  • 24/7 access to an online employee discount platform including retailers, entertainment, eating out, travel, cycle to work schemes and more
  • Enhanced sick pay/maternity pay/paternity pay
  • Competitive pension contributions
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • Flexible working - with the option to finish at lunchtime on a Friday
Our Core Values
  • "We Care" is more than just a phrase; it's a commitment to empathy, compassion, and positive impact. We care about our colleagues, our clients, our community, and our environment and we strive to create a positive impact on each and every one of them.
  • "We Share" is about collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect. We believe that together, we can achieve more than we ever could alone, and we foster an environment where ideas are shared, expertise is passed on, and successes and celebrated.
  • "We Thrive" - this is where we push boundaries, innovate, and strive for excellence. We thrive on challenges, we thrive on learning, and we thrive on the pursuit of greatness. These values are not just words on a wall; they are the guiding principles that define our culture, shape our behaviour, and inspire our collective success.
What to do next

Application is through the Bamboo portal. The recruitment process will involve a preliminary interview and a more detailed follow‑up interview as well as an opportunity to meet some of your future teammates.
