Our Head Office is based in Stockton-on-Tees and is home to our administrative support teams, engineering & maintenance support team & energy services teams. The Offices are located on the river Tees with close access to walks, shops and restaurants.
The Opportunity
We are now recruiting for a Construction Safety and Wellbeing Advisor.
The Construction Safety & Wellbeing Advisor will champion a positive, professional Safety culture in all interactions with px employees, customers, contractors & visitors, ensuring everyone is aware of personal responsibilities to maintain the safety & well-being of themselves, colleagues, the environment around them, and thus the business.
In this role you will lead, manage, engage, challenge and develop assigned personnel to deliver roles and responsibilities whilst supporting the construction/engineering arm of the business as well as providing CDM 2015 support to the portfolio of high risk COMAH sites.
You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the focal point of Safety and Wellbeing expertise for projects/outages to ensure compliance with current and future legal requirements.
- Provide governance to Site preconstruction information, inductions, Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Health and Safety files ensuring compliance with all applicable legal and industry standards and in particular the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM).
- Review tenders to ensure that each contractor or supplier has suitable and sufficient Safety, Health, and Environment [SHE] arrangements.
- Monitor the construction works, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure, SHE compliance with the Project CPP.
- Define and undertake accurate internal and external audits, assessments, and inspections to the required standards and timescales, communicating and closing out action points to completion.
- Develop project audit schedule and conduct CDM audit and review, communicating and ensuring closeout of action points.
- Ensure events are investigated. Lead and assist in investigations, preparing accurate and timely reports, and ensuring appropriate communication and close out of recommendations to prevent reoccurrence and ensure continuous improvement.
- Provide relevant and accurate Safety and Wellbeing advice, information, and guidance to both px and contract personnel. To include direction on company procedure, current and future legislative compliance requirements, changes, and amendments.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBSOH Construction Management
- Experience in managing CDM regulation compliance and project Assurance
- Exposure and awareness of permit to work and lock out tag out systems.
- Strong experience working as a health and safety advisor/ officer/ consultant in a construction environment
- Experience in successfully working in and contributing to a workplace team environment.
