An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Gynaecology nursing team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. We are looking for a band 5 staff nurse who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, friendly, kind and has a passion for women’s health. The role will primarily be based at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, with occasional travel to support gynaecology services across our three sites (Worcester, Kidderminster and Redditch). This is a 24:7 gynaecology emergency service, providing both inpatient and elective care.

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care within team nursing, ensuring patient-centred high quality care.
• Communicate effectively with patients, carers and multidisciplinary team, educating patients where needs exist.
• Provide supervision, support and education to unregistered staff and students.
• Work variable shift pattern (long days 07:00‑19:30 and nights 19:00‑07:30) and travel countywide as required.
• Participate in preceptorship programmes and be a facilitator/mentor to less experienced staff.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and handle complaints in accordance with Trust policy.
• Maintain a safe clean environment, carry out general risk assessments and manage manual handling, pressure risk and safeguarding.
• Aim to develop own knowledge, clinical skills and professional awareness, maintaining a reflective practice portfolio.
• Assist in the training and development of student nurses and health care assistants.
• Contribute to research, development programmes and the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care.

• First Level NMC Registered Adult Nurse.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Experience gained through pre‑registration training.
• Desirable: experience working in a gynaecology setting, working independently and with the multidisciplinary team across acute and community.

• Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills.
• Able to record and deal with facts, figures and information accurately.
• Effective communicator, written and verbal.
• Able to problem‑solve and be flexible to change in demands of service.
• Ability to mentor and provide effective support to unregistered staff and students.
• Ability to identify and manage risk.
• Determination and tenacity in challenging situations.
• Ability to identify personal development needs and keep professional portfolio up to date.
• Compassionate, empathic and able to work without supervision; reflective practitioner.

• Adheres to Trust uniform and dress code policy.
• Responsible for control and administration of drugs in accordance with Medicare policy and NMC requirements.
• Participates in unit projects and enhances standards of care.
• Maintains own professional practice, updating procedures in line with current research.
• Ensures revalidation and meets UK professional registration.
• Flexible in work patterns and able to travel independently between sites.
• All posts working with children or vulnerable adults are required to have an Enhanced DBS check.
