Your role:

You will operate in the areas of Information Governance including UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) including data breaches, Freedom of Information (FOI), Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), Data sharing, Subject Access Requests (SAR) and Third Party Requests. You will work closely with client officers, Elected Members, partner organisations and other key stakeholders to assist them in the delivery of their service objectives and priorities.

You will review and maintain guidance, policies and procedures relating to information governance including data sharing agreements, data protection impact assessments, right of access requests, data breaches and freedom of information requests. You will assist with auditing Information Governance procedures and undertake investigations into complaints received from the Information Commissioners Office (ICO), members of the general public and officers in respect of information governance.

About you:

You will be able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge of information Governance Law or hold an Information Systems Examination Board (ISEB) certificate in Data Protection, ISEB in Information risk management or a legal qualification (Admitted Solicitor entitled to a current practising certificate, the qualification of Barrister or Legal Executive) or be able to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge of Information Governance Law.

You will also have experience in at least three areas of work from the list below:

  • Information Governance
  • UK General Data Protection Regulation (UKGDPR) including data breaches
  • Freedom of Information (FOI)
  • Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)
  • Data Sharing and Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Subject Access Requests (SAR)
  • Third Party Requests

You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual with experience of providing information governance advice to assist and guide clients when making decisions.

You will have experience of developing documents, policies and procedures in relation to Information governance and assisting with auditing of those procedures.

You will have a proven track record in a pressured and deadline driven environment and be able to represent the service and the Council at a local and regional level as necessary.
