Ride-on Mower Driver / Assistant Gardener
Job summary
A local council in Fareham is seeking Ride-on Mower Drivers to maintain parks and open spaces. Responsibilities include grass maintenance, litter collection, and site inspections. Applicants must have a valid UK driving licence and display professionalism in customer interactions. This position is temporary but may lead to permanent opportunities, with roles starting late February.

Responsibilities
- Maintain grass in parks, along road verges and play areas.
- Clear leaf-fall from open spaces.
- Inspect sites for issues and report to supervisor.
- Sweep and remove litter, rubbish, and animal waste.
- Complete basic paperwork.
We’re looking for Ride-on Mower Drivers to help maintain and improve parks and open spaces within the Borough of Fareham.
- Maintain grass in our parks, along road verges and play areas following a set route.
- Clear leaf-fall from open space areas.
- Inspect sites and let your supervisor know of any problems you spot.
- Sweep, collect and remove litter, rubbish and animal waste.
- Complete very basic paperwork.
This is a temporary, seasonal post but there is a possibility of a permanent position becoming available.
You will need to have a full, valid UK driving licence.
Full training for the Ride on Mower will be provided to the successful applicants.
You will have a mature attitude and be able to work without close supervision and communicate with our customers in a professional way.
It's important that you have the ability to get on well with your team and have a steady and methodical approach to work.
We intend to hold a recruitment morning on 10February 2026 with successful applicants starting in the position at the end of February.
