Job summary
A leading NHS Trust in Southend-on-Sea is seeking a dedicated Scrub Nurse to join their theatre team. You will ensure a safe, sterile environment during surgical procedures, assemble necessary equipment, and actively support patient care. The ideal candidate holds a valid NMC/HCPC registration and has at least one year of post-graduate experience, along with recent UK exposure. Client Name: Southend University Hospital
Role: Scrub Nurse
Rates: £16.48 - £21.24 per hour
Shifts: Available Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00
- Monitor and maintain a safe and sterile environment for the patient throughout the surgical procedure.
- Safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list.
- Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency, and trauma procedures.
- Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores and implants liaising with the Theatre Manager and Procurement.
- Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using various methods to ensure effective understanding.
- Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure.
- Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.
- Current NMC/HCPC registration
- At least 1 year’s post‑graduate experience
- At least 6 months recent UK experience within the last 3 years
