Bus And Coach Engineer
Job summary
A recruitment company is looking for a Bus and Coach Engineer in Byfleet, England. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in maintenance and repair of vehicle systems. Responsibilities include performing inspections, diagnosing faults, and ensuring vehicle compliance. A full UK driving licence is required. Competitive pay of £22.55 per hour offered.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a PCV/Bus & Coach Engineer.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Full UK driving licence; PCV licence advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Carry out daily maintenance on the company’s bus and coach fleet.
- Perform vehicle inspections in line with company standards.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs as required.
Skills
Bus and Coach Engineer
Location: Byfleet, Surrey
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Assistant Engineering Manager
Hours: 12:00 pm - 12:00 am, 4 on / 4 off rota (average 42 hours per week)
Pay Rate: £22.55 per hour
- Carry out daily maintenance on the company’s bus and coach fleet
- Perform vehicle inspections in line with company and DVSA standards
- Diagnose faults (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) and complete repairs as required
- Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT testing
- Attend roadside breakdowns and conduct necessary on-site repairs
- Identify and rectify running defects promptly
- Carry out general servicing and routine maintenance tasks
- Work effectively within a busy workshop environment and handle daily operational pressures
- Maintain high standards of safety, accuracy, and compliance at all times
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a PCV/Bus & Coach Engineer
- Strong diagnostic and repair abilities
- Good understanding of vehicle systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence (PCV licence advantageous but not essential)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
