Overview

Bus and Coach Engineer

Location: Byfleet, Surrey

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Assistant Engineering Manager

Hours: 12:00 pm - 12:00 am, 4 on / 4 off rota (average 42 hours per week)

Pay Rate: £22.55 per hour

Responsibilities

• Carry out daily maintenance on the company’s bus and coach fleet
• Perform vehicle inspections in line with company and DVSA standards
• Diagnose faults (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) and complete repairs as required
• Prepare and present vehicles for annual MOT testing
• Attend roadside breakdowns and conduct necessary on-site repairs
• Identify and rectify running defects promptly
• Carry out general servicing and routine maintenance tasks
• Work effectively within a busy workshop environment and handle daily operational pressures
• Maintain high standards of safety, accuracy, and compliance at all times

Skills & Experience Required

• Minimum 2 years' experience as a PCV/Bus & Coach Engineer
• Strong diagnostic and repair abilities
• Good understanding of vehicle systems including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full UK driving licence (PCV licence advantageous but not essential)
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
