Job description

Located on the Lancashire coast, with Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District nearby, Wyre is an area of great contrast and includes urban areas, seaside resorts, a port, traditional market towns and picturesque villages within an extensive rural area that includes part of the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The combination of such a diverse area and high development pressures present an interesting and challenging mix of urban and rural planning and regeneration issues.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Planning Officer with demonstrable experience to join our Development Management team. With previous experience of delivering high performance standards in planning, you will be required to deliver a quality service to our customers.

The post holder would ideally have or be working towards Chartered membership of the RTPI and have extensive experience of dealing with major planning applications, a sound knowledge and understanding of current planning legislation, local government issues related to planning and a clear understanding of the relationship between corporate priorities and the delivery of the service.

The ability to communicate, motivate, lead and manage staff effectively is essential.
