Job summary

A leading healthcare provider in Wrexham is seeking an experienced Senior Oncology Pharmacist to support pharmacist-led clinics and manage a caseload of oncology patients. The ideal candidate will be an Independent Prescriber with a clinical pharmacy diploma and experience in oncology settings. Job description
Overview

This exciting role has been created to support pharmacist-led clinics for oncology patients at Wexham Park Hospital. You will be joining a respected team of pharmacists and technicians delivering services to our patients at Wexham Park Hospital. You will be participating in clinics for SACT prescribing, confirming treatments, managing side effects and counselling patients to transform our service to oncology patients. This will include writing the defined outpatient clinic protocols for NMP's to support activity within the tumour group. You will also spend time training your colleagues to ensure there is shared learning, screening SACT prescriptions and providing directorate support. You will work closely with the team of oncologists and clinical nurse specialists.

General
  • To work with other senior pharmacists to develop the clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist areas being covered.
  • The provision of a clinical pharmacy service to patients within the specialist areas.
  • To support the training and development of pharmacist independent prescribers.
  • To act as a role model in the field of clinical pharmacy practice and provide a consistently high standard of clinical service in line with the pharmacy objectives.
  • The recruitment, management, and development of staff under the post-holder.
Oncology roles
  • To partake in Oncology clinical pharmacy duties ensuring core clinical pharmacy activities are undertaken.
  • To manage a caseload of patients as part of the Oncology Clinical Team within defined specialist areas.
  • To develop the provision of Oncology advanced clinical practice - promoting safe and evidenced-based practice and contributing to improved clinical outcomes and services to patients.
  • To provide leadership, management and directorate/service support roles to Oncology.

The post holder should have completed the clinical diploma or equivalent, and must be an Independent Prescriber.
