As a Process Technologist you will be responsible for acting as a link between product development and operational departments, ensuring that new products are effectively delivered following a critical path, from factory trial and testing stages to full production.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Responsible for translation and delivery of new or changed products from concept to launch within the agreed critical path and with the right quality & safety standards.
- Plan, prepare, and co-ordinate product process development and technical trials to deliver product & customer requirements.
- Ensure all trials are fully documented and adhere to food safety, quality and operational standards.
- Collect and evaluate all technical and operational trial data to enable accurate specs, BOMs & factory documents may be completed.
- Working collaboratively with operations, engineering, NPD, commercial and technical departments.
- Contributing and clearly communicating trial feedback within process meetings to a multidisciplinary team.
- Training and demonstrating product process and standards for new launches and existing lines post amendments to operational and technical teams.
- Consider the opportunity to deliver improvement opportunities within the trial and production processes.
- Liaise with procurement & technical to ensure all new raw materials are procured for trials and management of stock.
- Collaborating with the Technical Raw Materials team to ensure compliance and suitability of raw materials and packaging.
- Carrying out shelf life assessments for organoleptic properties and submitting samples for microbiological assessment. Collation of results into requirement templates for approval.
- Completion of Quality Standards for new products and product amends.
- Conducting process validations for new and existing processes/products.
- Working on continuous improvement opportunities for all manufactured products.
- Troubleshooting and resolving product related issues within the manufacturing environment.
- To be part of the BEF site traceability team.
- To be part of the BEF internal audit team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Practical approach and methodology.
- Experience within operations and/or NPD and/or process OR food graduate with placement experience.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to multi-task, and deliver against tight critical paths.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast passed environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with people on all levels.
- Awareness of manufacturing equipment and processing requirements.
- Ability and aptitude to resolve food processing issues.
- This role has a responsibility for food safety, product quality, brand integrity and Health and Safety.
