Job summary

A healthcare organization in the Tees Valley is seeking a professional Practice Nurse for a part-time role (16 hours per week). Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for clinical nursing care of the practice population.
  • Conduct standard treatment room procedures like dressings and immunisations.
  • Record patient information and maintain treatment room records.

Job description

We are a ruralfriendly GMS Practice serving around 5400 patients.

Our team includes 3 GP Partners and 2 PracticeNurses and a HCA. We are looking for a professional, conscientious, and highlyeffective Practice Nurse to join us for 16 hours per week.

Salary dependent on experience.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the clinicalnursing care of the practice population. You will receive referrals from thegeneral practitioner and will be called upon to advise, support and treatpatients who attend the surgery. You will undertake the delivery of nursingcare in general practice as a self directing practitioner, working with the GPsto meet patient needs as appropriate.

  • Removal of sutures/clips
  • Dressings
  • Venepuncture
  • Standard medicalmeasurements
  • Ear syringing
  • Immunisation and otherinjections and travel advice
  • Urine testing

You willcarry out specialised procedures:

  • Sterilisation andinfection control
  • Setting up and assistingwith minor operations
  • ECGs and ABPMs
  • Audiometry
  • Long Term ConditionsReviews
  • Cervical cytologyscreening
  • Cryotherapy
  • Primary PreventionReviews including Healthy Heart (and calculating CVD risk using JBS Q-risk)
  • Involvement in PublicHealth:- Alcohol Awareness- Smoking Cessation- Weight Management- Cancer Awareness
  • Learning Disabilities Reviews

Other Duties

  • You may be required toact as a chaperone
  • You must maintain thehighest standard of hygiene and the prevention of cross infection to patientsand other members of the Primary Healthcare Team.

Administration

  • You will record allrelevant patient information on computer, including monitoring and recordingaccurate data in relation to QOF targets.
  • You will complete allnurse related paper work, and ensure that all treatment room records aremaintained efficiently.
  • You will assist inorganising preventative measures: eg Flu vaccination, health promotionactivities
  • You will liaise withcolleagues to order and maintain stocks of drugs and equipment necessary forthe day to day running of the treatment rooms.
  • You will attend staffmeetings, clinical meetings and staff training as appropriate, and beresponsible for your own continued personal development.
  • Professional Registrationis your own responsibility and you will be expected to follow the U.K.C.C. Code of Professional Conduct.
