Meet Finlay

Finlay – a clever, funny, and kind young boy with a big curiosity about the world around him. He has a passion for learning, nature, enjoys playing in the garden, cycling, swimming, reading, and visiting bookshops like Waterstones. Finlay also has a great sense of humour and enjoys good chats, comfort food, and exploring new places.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Personal Assistant who can help Finlay live life to the fullest. The role is physically active and may require you to join Finlay in activities such as swimming, cycling, visiting parks, forests, and bookshops. You will support him with everyday tasks – tying shoelaces, shopping, using public transport – and help him navigate communication and social situations, encouraging confidence and independence.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with daily routines and tasks (e.g., dressing, grooming, meal preparation)
  • Accompany Finlay on outdoor and indoor activities (swimming, cycling, park visits, bookshop outings)
  • Provide structure, routine, and a sense of safety to support learning and independence
  • Facilitate positive communication and social interaction in a calm and encouraging manner
  • Help develop Finlay’s confidence through supportive coaching and encouragement
  • Maintain awareness of Finlay’s needs related to autism and ADHD, adapting support accordingly
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people affected by autism and ADHD – essential
  • Valid driving licence (mileage reimbursed)
  • Willingness to work in Hamilton; comfortable commuting to local venues
  • Strong communication skills and a calm, patient approach to stressful situations
  • Flexible availability: 3 hours per week at £12.60 per hour, days and times agreed flexibly
