Job description
Overview

Slough has received grant funding and aims to meet the deadline to submit a plan in December 2026. The Borough has a range of exciting projects underway and seeks a qualified MRTPI Planning Policy Manager to complete a SHELAA (strategic housing and employment land availability assessment) to support the new Slough Local Plan.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the SHELAA project, taking responsibility for all elements from producing the scope to managing procurement and commissioning, and working with consultants to publish a completed study.
  • Act as the lead officer for the project, working with minimal supervision and administration support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external consultants as required to deliver the study within the contract timeframe.
  • Travel to Slough on a weekly basis (in the office on Wednesdays) and work remotely with a DSE compliant home office if applicable.
  • Ensure delivery of the project within the specified timeframe: 6 months, 35-37 hours per week, with at least 2 weeks leave (22 December – 2 January).
  • Start week commencing 6 October, with the post running to 31 March.
  • Note that Slough is positive about career development and an extension may be possible after the initial period.
Qualifications
  • MRTPI Planning Policy Manager with at least 5 years of Planning Policy experience in a Local Planning Authority.
