KLBD (Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din) is the leading UK authority on Jewish Dietary Laws. It operates under the aegis of The Court of the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth and is a department of the United Synagogue.
The KLBD Kosher Certification Department is a leading international agency operating across six continents. Certifying many multi-national food processors and raw material manufacturers, KLBD is committed to offering a professional and affordable kosher certification service worldwide and is proud to have been a leading force in kosher certification for more than a century. Currently, over 2,200 companies, in 87 countries, are benefiting from KLBD kosher certification.
Over the past two decades KLBD has grown from a local Kashrut Authority to an international Kosher Certification business. Working within the office based Kosher Certification team, the Ingredients Coordinator will manage recording and access to technical information for a portfolio of KLBD-certified factories. The Ingredients Coordinator must be in contact with the client factory and the supervising Rabbinic Coordinator (RC) to ensure that all technical information is accurate, up-to-date, and readily accessible to the RC.
The Ingredients Coordinator will liaise with team members and senior staff to ensure that all materials used are suitable according to the rigorous standards of the KLBD and the London Beth Din.
Annual requests
- Liaising with clients to confirm that information on-file is correct and to request updated support documentation.
- Cross-referencing updated supporting documents and consulting with senior team members in the event of changes.
- Communicating with the companies, by phone and by email, to ensure a good relationship is maintained with the company and that they are satisfied with the service provided.
Applications from current companies
- Confirming new application forms have been filled in correctly and correct support documentation has been supplied.
- Cross-referencing applications and accounting for errors or discrepancies.
- Conferring with senior team members for the approval new kosher ingredients and kosher product applications.
- Advising companies of potential issues that must be addressed, as informed by senior team members or the Rabbinic Coordinator (e.g., ingredients that require Kosher certificates to be approved, shared use of equipment with problematic ingredients).
- Handling enquiries from existing certified factories.
- Recording updated information from approved applications.
Abilities and experience
- Knowledge of Kashrus and related Jewish customs and practices.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Ability to work unsupervised and to manage own workload and deliver results under pressure and to tight deadlines and objectives.
- Ability to collate, assess and evaluate data, and identify problems.
- Ability to carry out work with accuracy and paying attention to detail to ensure work is carried out to the quality expected.
- To manage and prioritise a range of tasks and duties, both complex and routine.
- To work in a professional manner and developing effective working relationships with colleagues and external customers at all times.
- To be able to work as an effective and proactive member of the Kashrut team.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

- Computing skills and competence in using Microsoft Word, Excel, outlook and databases.

- Creative thinking in finding and presenting solutions to resolve kashrus problems.

- An understanding of chemistry, food technology and/or manufacturing processes.
Commitment
Must be committed to implementing the highest standard of Kashrut as laid down by the London Beth Din and the Kashrut Director.

Generic duties
