Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare teams at HMP Onley, a category C training prison, based in Rugby, Northamptonshire. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced integrated mental health team, including another Consultant Psychiatrist and a Mental Health Specialist ACP. Successful applicants will be familiar with adult mental health presentations, delivering medication reviews, hospital referrals and psychiatric support for complex historic trauma.

Hours

1 day per week. Can be worked Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday.

Salary

This position is part time, 8 hours per week, with an annual salary up to £180,000 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

How will we support you?

  • You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant’s meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course
  • Competency framework
Main duties of the job

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews

Qualifications required

  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
