Overview

Civil Engineer - Croydon

Are you a skilled Civil Engineer with a passion for delivering innovative and practical engineering solutions? We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional to join a dynamic and growing team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects, primarily within the rail sector, while also gaining exposure to transportation, energy, and heavy civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities
  • Undertaking preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects.
  • Preparing technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Performing structural analysis and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
  • Assisting in the preparation of and tender proposals.
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including contractors and clients.
  • Managing project timelines, budgets, and stakeholder communication.
  • Providing technical support and mentorship to junior and graduate engineers.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ICE or IStructE accredited course.
  • A minimum 2:1 degree classification (or equivalent).
  • A commitment to continuous professional development, with progress towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineering status.
  • Proficiency in design and analysis software, as well as the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • A strong understanding of design codes and standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in rail-based projects.
  • A full, clean driving license (advantageous).
  • Sentinel Track Safety - PTS certification.
Day-to-Day
  • Designing and analyzing engineering solutions for a variety of projects.
  • Preparing detailed technical documentation and reports.
  • Liaising with clients and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Conducting site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Managing project schedules and budgets to deliver on time and within scope.
  • Collaborating with team members to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Supporting junior engineers in their professional development.
